Our Tahitian Tiki Huts are wonderful over spas, BBQ islands, pool decks, or just about
anywhere else for lounging in the shade. If you want to truly vacation at home, purchase a
Tahitian Tiki Hut! There's nothing better than to relax in the shade of a palapa. Now you
really can vacation at home!

Our Tahitian Tiki Huts are also known as; cabanas, grass huts, tiki bars, thatch huts, hales
structures, chiki huts, beach huts, fiji huts and island huts, palapas and may more names.

Tiki Hut Diagram
Our 6 inch diameter poles extend to 2 inch diameter round pine
rafters. The roof thatching is hand woven Tahitian thatch panels.
The thatch is easy to attach and maintain.

The Tahitian round Tiki Hut roof frames are round and the 4 posts
beneath form a square.

Pole spacing has been designed to maximize your space in the
shade. The poles have been set to the very outer edge of the roof
frame. If you would like to have the pole spacing closer together, in
most cased this can be easily changed with no additional
customization charges. The pole spacing for the oval Tiki Hut palapas
can be changed with some limitations. The width distance can be
shortened (see above) but the length can not; unless the whole roof
length is changed.

General Tools and materials needed for installations:

Usually at least 2 people
Drill with screwdriver bit
Free standing ladder
Level
Wheelbarrow and shovel (depending on main pole installation method)
Cement (depending on main pole installation method)
Sockets & wrench

Installation Difficulty:

4 (or 5) out of 5 - This means that this type of palapa
is one of the most difficult to set up.
*Note: Installation difficulty increases proportionally with the size of palapa.

Basic Installation Instructions

Assemble bottom portion of hut. (legs to headers)
Assemble top portion of hut separately and place on top of bottom portion
Secure top portion to bottom portion
Attach pre-woven thatch pieces to roof

Main pole Length:

-If installing a palapa into the ground using cement footing, choose the 10'
long main pole. (shown below)
-If installing a palapa into a BBQ island, a palapa stand or some other surface
mount, choose the 8' long main poles.

This diagram shows the main pole extending approx. 2' below ground level, the standard
depth of installation when using concrete footings to anchor your palapa.

Fire Retardant:

Palapa Structures treats each piece of thatch, front and back, according to
the manufacturers' specifications. A Certificate of Fire Retardantcy will be
issued if requested. You may present to inspectors when required. According
to the lab testing data available the treated thatch archives a classified A
rating. Fire retardant adds a clear coating to the thatch, leaving the surface
slightly more reflective. Please see FAQ page for more information.

Wood Treatment:

Treating lumber provides long-term resistance to organisms that cause
deterioration. It can extend the productive life of lumber by five to ten times.
Wood that is exposed to moisture or soil for sustained periods of time will
become weakened by various types of fungi, bacteria or insects. Both the light
and dark stains provide similar amounts of protection for the wood. Darker
color will protect wood better from UV rays. Clear treatment penetrates into
the wood to protect from the inside out and is not a top coat and will still allow
the wood to weather. If you add a stain treatment to your cart please specify

Thatch Roof Options:

Each Tahitian Palapa comes with 2 layers of thatch as a standard option. 2
layer of thatch is all that's needed on the Tahitian palapa. The 2 layers is
obtained by overlapping each row of thatch; not by stacking.

Rope Kit:
Twised Sisal Rope We use manila rope for all of our rope accessories. Manila rope has proved
it's durability over many years by being the rope of choice for many outdoor
and indoor applications. Some of the benefits of using this rope are that it is
made of natural fiber keeping the overall natural look of the palapa. The
rope is 1/4" and is purely for aesthetic appeal. Rope kit comes pre-cut but
not pre-attached.

Prices for local Installation of Tiki Huts

We can set up your palapa in the counties of Ventura,LA, and Santa Barbara
in California with some area limitations. The following prices are the base
prices for a standard installation. This price can vary. Please call to get a
specific installation quote. We do not cut concrete, tile or other material for
the pole to go through. If needed cutting should be done prior to our
installation.
